Next Gathering

25th October 2020

@ Roundswell Community Centre (next to Sainsbury's)

As we look to gather fortnightly starting at10am I know some of you are weighing up whether to come.

Let me lay out some of the things that we are doing, what you can expect & what we will ask you to do.

When you arrive, it should be within minutes of 10am & you should leave with the final blessing straight away. If you decide to talk to folk, it must be outside.

The seating will be at 2m distance, with only households or bubbles allowed to sit together.

No one will be asked to touch, handle or take anything they didn’t come with.

When you come in there will be alcohol hand sanitiser available, but if you can bring your own even better. Doors will be open seats cleaned so you should be able to sit down where you find a space & not need to touch anything unnecessarily.

The service will be conducted in entirety from me at the front your responses will be that which comes up on the screen, some will be silent & some will be at an ordinary speaking volume. God hears our hearts not the loudness of our words. And I will be using a microphone.

When the service is over, you will have the opportunity to drop money or gifts into the offering tray – which will be located near the door on the way out.

We will expect people to come prepared, but one toilet each will be available should you need them. But please use the sanitising equipment to clean whatever you’ve touched afterwards.

People will need to book in so that we can keep a record for 21 days in case of a need to contact track & trace – hence the reason for not speaking to one another within the hall to minimise the number of people needed to be traced in the (unlikely) event of an outbreak at this time.

I realise some are fearful & your fears are founded on the concern that the virus is easily spread by a number of means – which come from normal human interaction. This makes ‘being church’ really difficult – with severe restrictions on what we do. But this is also about how we show love to one another whilst being wise and circumspect in our gathering. The government told us to lockdown & we did. Now they have given us limited permission to meet, so we are following the guidance, confident in God’s providence & available wisdom in so doing.

Let me remind of Psalm 91 v2-3

I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly plague.

Because we trust we will not be afraid, but we will not be naive either. That is why we’ve taken on all the precautions suggested above. We want this to a time that is healthy, safe & honouring of Jesus – whilst we find a way back to some kind of “normal”. We hope you will feel safe to gather with us if you’re able.

We will be updating this website as the situation changes.

Your patience and prayer is appreciated.

Churches and places of worship are now permitted to open with social distancing and precautionary measures in place
